Tax Preparation & Planning

Tax Prep That Looks Ahead, Not Just Back.

Individual and business tax filing paired with year-round planning to lower what you owe — for small business owners in Miramar, Pembroke Pines, and South Florida.

Who This Is For

For individuals and business owners who want it done right.

This service is for individuals who want their return handled correctly the first time, and for small business owners — sole proprietors, single-member LLCs, S-Corps, and partnerships — who need their business and personal taxes to work together instead of being treated as two separate problems. It also fits anyone who's outgrown DIY tax software and wants a CPA who actually reviews the return before it's filed, and can answer the "should I" questions software can't.

What's Included

Filing is the finish line — planning is what gets you there.

Individual and business returns are prepared and reviewed personally — including partnership returns (Form 1065) alongside S-Corp (1120-S) and sole proprietor filings. Every return is checked against last year's for anything that changed, so nothing gets missed simply because it wasn't asked about.

Individual & Business Returns

1040 individual returns and business filings (1120-S, 1065) prepared accurately and filed on time.

Entity Structuring (S-Corp Elections)

A clear-eyed review of whether an S-Corp election actually saves you money at your current profit level.

Year-Round Tax Reduction Strategy

Planning conversations throughout the year, not just in April — so decisions get made before it's too late to act on them.

Quarterly Estimated Tax Calculations

Right-sized quarterly payments so you're not scrambling — or overpaying — when each deadline hits. Not sure how much to set aside? See what actually determines the amount.

Beyond Filing

Tax planning considerations for small business owners.

Tax planning is different from tax preparation — preparation reports what already happened; planning changes what happens next. For small business owners, that usually means a few recurring questions: Is your entity structure still the right one as profit grows? Are you taking every deduction you're actually entitled to, not just the obvious ones? Should you be making retirement contributions that lower this year's taxable income? Whether an S-Corp election makes sense at your specific profit level is one of the most common — we wrote more about how that comparison works in S-Corp vs. LLC: Which Actually Saves You More?

Before Your Appointment

What to prepare before tax season.

A little preparation before you sit down with your CPA makes the whole process faster and more accurate:

  • Prior-year tax return, for reference
  • Income records (1099s, W-2s, or bookkeeping reports if you have them)
  • Business expense records, categorized if possible
  • Mileage log, if you deduct vehicle use
  • Any letters from the IRS or state received during the year
  • A list of major changes — new entity, new dependent, moved states, bought or sold property

The more organized this is going in, the more of the conversation can focus on planning ahead instead of just reconstructing the past year.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between tax preparation and tax planning?

Tax preparation is filing an accurate return based on what already happened last year. Tax planning is the ongoing work of making decisions throughout the year — entity structure, timing of income and expenses, retirement contributions — that change what you'll owe next time. We do both together, rather than treating filing as a once-a-year event.

Does my small business need to make quarterly estimated tax payments?

If you expect to owe a meaningful amount in tax for the year and don't have enough withheld from a paycheck, the IRS generally expects quarterly estimated payments rather than one lump sum in April. We calculate these based on your actual numbers rather than a flat guess — see our quarterly estimated tax checklist for the basics.

Should my LLC elect S-Corp status?

It depends almost entirely on your profit level — the savings come from self-employment tax, and below a certain profit threshold, the added payroll and filing complexity can cost more than it saves. We walk through the actual numbers for your business rather than a generic rule of thumb.

What tax documents should I provide?

For most clients: prior-year return, income documents (W-2s, 1099s), business expense records, and anything the IRS or state sent you during the year. It's a shorter list than most people expect.

Do you prepare both personal and business returns?

Yes — for most small business owners, personal and business taxes affect each other directly, so we prepare both together rather than as two disconnected filings.
